Feb. 8,2009 We are both
doing fine. The apartment with a separate living room with nice furniture and an internet connection. Agnes loves
the kitchen , you can see how modern it is. Bob lead a Bible study on Friday night for couples and singles and attended
a Saturday morning breakfast. We were picked up and driven about an hour from Worclaw to Lubin. We stayed at a
friend's house and Bob had the church service this morning. We feel very safe as our building is keyed and apartment
door has double locks. We have a language teacher coming by on Tuesday and it seems Monday is our "day off".
It is a challenge for us to climb the 47 steps [no elevator] we'll be in great shape when we come back.
Feb. 2,2009: This house is New Hope Fellowship. It is here that we will be spending
a larger portion of our time. On Friday nights I will be teaching the book of Philippians, Paul's letter was written
to them from a dungeon in Rome.
Today was February 1, the missionary
pastor had us all go down into the dark and cold basement. One wall had a large hole in it. As the congregation quietly
entered they looked through the opening and saw a candle lit room with a man on his knees covered with a shawl representing
the Apostle Paul.
In the semi-darkness, chill and silence
the pastor read excerpts from Philippians emphasizing and asking how can we have joy like Paul in the midst of difficult circumstances?
It was very moving and effective introduction to the book. Pray for effective teaching and personal application of the
truth in Philippians.
